To Knot or not to Knot ;-)

Posted in decor lighting, DJ, Laser, Uncategorized, Wedding, wedding DJ on August 20, 2009 by directsound

I want to advertise with the Knot but it’s close to $200 a month for a web advertisement. I want to grow my business but I not sure if I want … No I want to, I just don’t know if there is a better way to do it. Should I make the investment or go a different route? My problem is I’m a single owner operator and with everything else I have going out right now I’m not sure if it’s the right time. Or should I put all my eggs in one basket and go for it? Does anyone else advertise with the Knot, and does it work for you? If so I would love your input, like if or what I might be able to ask for that they don’t advertize that will make my ad stand out even more with them if I choose to go with them. Thanks for your input!

Don’t Touch My Garter! That’s My Bouquet!

Posted in decor lighting, DJ, Laser, Wedding, wedding DJ with tags , , , , , on August 18, 2009 by directsound

Some wedding traditions you may not want to mess with but I am always looking for a unique twist to put on the garter / bouquet removal and toss. Some of the Ideas we come up with may be something you wish to include in your event or special day. Many couples feel that the standard garter /bouquet removal toss is a tired tradition and that they need a fresh twist on an old classic. More and more couples are beginning to look for unique ways to the garter toss and even the bridal dances. Please let me know what you do or have seen to break the traditional type event… M. Bride’s in Spin & Puke mode! And no she is not pregnant-

Just when you thought you had it all figured out, brides have a new worry “Décor Lighting” Wedding Reception Halls, a great source to find a great wedding DJ and Lighting service, but don’t just ask the manager ask a few of the workers. The waitresses and bartenders that work the rooms are more in tuned with the DJ and are a good source that can give you an accurate opinion of the night’s performance and if the DJ can keep the crowd moving or if the atmosphere is elegant or looks like a seine from dark hole. Most brides want a lighting package that makes the room look amazing without giving you a headache or blinding you every time you turn around. A lighting package that goes around the room with the warm colors of the wedding, giving your wedding that finished look without turning your dinner into a disco. Remember you are there all night, make it soothing for your ears and your eyes. Now a days you need a lighting package that can “transform “ from a spectacular Grand Entrance to a warm Dinner hour all the way to that Night Club look for late night dancing. helinic-blueMost DJ and lighting services will only bring lights that are automatic with no control over the color or movement. So if you have wedding set in deep reds or a beautiful blue and the DJ has no control you will only get lighting with a full spectrum of colors and most of the time set to the “Spin & Puke” mode. Look for a DJ that uses intelligent lighting and knows how to use it and the lighting. Most DJ’s companies offer intelligent lighting, but most likely its set to the auto mode. In some cases they may even charging you for DMX programming, when in fact they have no control over the light at except to turn it on and off. During your consultation ask to see unedited video and pictures of a night’s performance. The unedited video lets you see what really happened and not a prefabricated look set to make them look better. This way you can see if the lighting matches the moment and the sound is right for the time. Don’t get me wrong everyone has different tastes for music and choices for wedding colors but if keep that in mind, you will see how that DJ will work or not work for you. For great wedding planning tips or a great Wedding DJ and Décor Lighting Specialist take a look at http://www.directsound.com they can put it all together for you and make your wedding simply amazing. Create the “Wow Effect” at your next wedding or corporate function. When a guest walks into the room the first thing you want them to say is “Wow” this place is cool.

Happy wedding

Happy wedding

I have set-up many rooms and have had many reactions from guests but the thing I hear the most is “Wow”! If you strive to achieve this at all of your events your businesses will thrive. The snap of one’s head looking around the room trying to take it all in is amazing every time I see it. It can be done with lighting, drapery, signs or even plants placed to achieve a jungle or oasis look and feel or even something simple as live fish swimming at the table for a center piece to create a tropical feel that the guests can take home and remember you for a long time to come.

The Question was raised, are brides still spending money?

Posted in decor lighting, Wedding with tags , , , , , on August 14, 2009 by directsound

Clients are still spending, but if they put out a dollar they want the absolute best for their money. I try to educate them on how I can help them save money throughout their wedding. Like if they want the best photographer and he charges by hour, I show her how to plan all of the formalities so the photographer get the best shots out of the way quick so he can go and there is a few hundred dollars saved. Now they can spend on getting even a better photographer or more on the entertainment, flowers or add a few more up-lights to spice up the room or highlight the trees or outside decor.

Brides Will Spend Money

I think they want the best bang for the buck. Or instead of doing a big banquet facility they are going for a nice property. This way they can bring in most of their own venders and that sometimes adds up to big savings. But I feel in this case they need a good bridal coordinator to put that all together. I try to put together a small package that will cost the bride X but if she went with a higher-end package instead of spending xxxx she will only have to spend XXX. Why? If I’m already there its only a bit more work to setup few more things and if they want the whole nine yards, yes it’s going to cost more but I can save them more, the more they get. It also will help sell my business in the long run, if the room looks amazing other than just so so. If I set up an amazing room and am able to get pictures and video to show the next client, it makes it that much easier for you to be the one getting the call because your top of mind with the venue, photographer, caterer and the last bridal coordinator because you were the one setting up the room with the “Wow Factor”. There is no better referral then that, now that the phone just rang the hard part is over. It is much easer to sell a client on a great referral from great wedding venders and so much easier up sell them with the pictures and video I just gave a discount to the last client.

Keep the Money Close

Keep the Money Close

I didn’t say free but work with your clients and it will all come flowing back to you and the venders you network with.
